Baltimore Blast Win 2013 MISL Championship

The Blast defeated Missouri Saturday at 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore to win the title.

Using a second-half surge, the Baltimore Blast won the 2013 Major Indoor Soccer Championship Saturday night at 1st Mariner Arena.

The Blast trailed Missouri by four at halftime, but rallied to win, 8-6, taking the championship series in two straight games.

The championship is the seventh for the Blast.

Saturday's low-scoring contest was in contrast to the Blast's 21-12 win Thursday at Missouri.

Rookie goalkeeper William Vanzela was named the championship series MVP.

Most popular because the rest of the world's kids can afford to play it. No other reason.

A nutty comparison Eastsider. The NFL has had 32 teams a year competing for the championship. What has been the average number of teams for Indoor Soccer. Too imagine it is even a sport at all is hilarious.

Each to their own. Congrats to the Blast and the Ravens. Seems to me that each team is made up of a group of committed individuals who are prepared to go above and beyond to achieve their goals. I find it ridiculous and shameful that the comments that followed this story are predominantly fans of each football code trying to make a meaningless case that theirs is the better game. Way to show some pride.

I understand that Indoor Soccer is not what Baseball and Football are in the US but I think if people would come to a Blast game they would appreciate it much more. These players don't get paid millions but are playing the game they love. They give 100% all the time and it is an exciting game to watch. The Blast have been playing for 30+ years and have been a top team for many years. They have won 6 championships since 2003. If you have never been to a game I suggest you come to one next year and see for yourself. I have known many people that weren't soccer fans but came to a game and enjoyed it very much. I love the O's and Ravens but am proud to be a Blast fan too. Congrats to the Blast on their Championship win!

I Cant understand how the City of Baltimore cant get behind own of its own sports teams it just make no sense to me . The Baltimore Blast just won its 7th title this should be front page news instead it was on page 3. These players make less then 40K a year and come out every game and gives it their all .

The city of Baltimore should have given the blast a parade instead they just give them the shaft The Baltimore Blast is the longest running tenant at the Baltimore arena 33 Years . Do U know just how much money the Blast brings in to the city every year ? I am sure its in the Millions .How about the revenue it brings in for the local hotels and bars

But yet they are treated bad because the City has issues with Ed Hale Because he is trying to get a new arena and the city want to put him out of Business for 3 years to build a new one As a blast fan I can tell you every single player , Coach , Staff member knows me by name

The Blast has won more Championships then the Baltimore Orioles Ravens Stars and the CFL colts combined But know the city will use this to there advantage to lure a our door soccer team to M&T bank stadium and cash in on what Ed Hale has Started

First of all, seriously, congratulations to the Blast and their (serious) fans. You were (and historically are!) still the best team of the seven or whatever in the league at a given time.

That said, the two reasons I don't go to Blast games are these:

1) The tickets are quite overpriced in my view.
2) I honestly wasn't impressed withe the overall on-field product when I did go. It's not a Blast specific thing, or the individual skill level...it's the game itself.
- 2 point goals? 3 point goals? Really?
- I personally think the field's too crowded with 5 field players a side.

It may just be that I'm too biased towards outdoor though.

The Blast deserve their moment in the sun. They have worked hard like all the other teams and considering the number of soccer players in the area they are a great example to a lot of kids. Whether you like soccer or not let them have their moment of glory. As a city we should be proud of them and supporting them. I have been appalled at the lack of press they have gotten leading up to and even after the event. The Blast are in the community working with kids, supporting community causes, and extremely accessible to their fans. Really could we ask for anything more? Baltimore City has done themselves a great disservice by not getting behind the Blast. They too bring money into the city and are a wonderful family event that should be promoted instead of pushed to page 3.
