Bulk of Kamenetz's Cabinet Sails Through Confirmation
Five more face council confirmation on Jan. 3; council approves donation from woman's estate.
The County Council confirmed 13 department heads and top aides nominated earlier this month by County Executive Kevin Kamenetz.
All the nominees had interviews with the council last week. None was considered in danger of being rejected. In the end, all received unanimous approval of the seven-member council.
Confirmed are:
- Fred Homan, county administrative officer
- Michael Field, county attorney
- Joanne Williams, director of the Department of Aging
- Keith Dorsey, director of Budget and Finance
- Jim O'Neill, director of Department of Corrections
- Chief John Hohman, Fire Department
- Dr. Gregory Branch, health officer
- Robert Stradling, director of the Office of Information and Technology
- Chief Jim Johnson, Police Department
- Timonthy Griffith, director of Department of Social Services
- George Gay, director of Department of Human Resources
- Ed Adams, director of Department of Public Works
- Barry Williams, director of the Department of Recreation and Parks
Five other nominees including Arnold Jablon and Vince Gardina will have their confirmation votes on Jan. 3.
In other council news:
The council unanimously approved the appropriation of $100,000 Audrey R. Dix donated to the county Health Department's Animal Control Division.
"In her lifetime, Ms. Dix was committed to improving the welfare and humane treatment of animals," said Stephanie House, chief of the Health Department Bureau of Administrative Services.
Dix, according to House, adopted a dog from the county animal shelter.
House said the money will be used to purchase an improved air conditioning system for the county animal shelter as well as be used for the purchase of equipment for the humane capture and transportation of animals; for staff training on the prevention of animal cruelty; and for prosecuting animal abusers.

Well I hope they all work for the citizens of baltimore county and not against them. Important issues need to be public knowledge and input. I will be contacting Mr. Griffith to crack down on illegal aliens getting welfare with little or fake id's. 30% fraud is outrageous. They also use multiple id's to get multiple checks while they work with another fake id. Hire people or even volunteers to investigate where they live and work.

Same old, same old... Same old boys club of Baltimore County. No new faces, just a reshuffling of the old tired worn out ones. Can we never get rid of Moxley?? Nothing will change with this group, developers will buy their way in as they've always done, and the citizens of Baltimore County just keep letting it happen by continuously electing career politicians.

amdactivist: Don't count on anyone in county government to anything about illegal immigration. They have their own "don't ask, don't tell" policy. Councilwoman Bevins stated that you can't use the word illegals unless you know for sure. Maybe when she follows the money, our money, she will find out. Still it won't matter. There is no leadership on the council.
I predicted the council would rubber stamp KK's appointments. All the usual suspects. Jablon sees no reason to change the PUD process or allowing citizens the opportunity to attend these meetings. It will be business as usual.
I strongly concur with Ms. Doucette. What we have here is a four-year "lame-duck" session!
I plan to send the ex.'s office details about an issue in my community dealing with the same scenario in the carbon monoxide deaths recently reported in the press. I have called in the past and nothing was done. They have people living in tool sheds. I will report the response, if I get one, and the action taken, or lack thereof.

Buzz. tool sheds? Call code enforcement and they will end it. They'll contact the owner. I do it with hot houses and also contact the landlord spelling out the penalties for aiding and abetting illegal aliens which is a felony charge.

amdactivist: I did call and the inspector did a great job and wrote them up for trash violations. When he showed up the first time, no one spoke English. He told them in such a way that they needed to find someone that did speak English and he would be back.
When he came back he was confronted by one of the males and they threatened to call the police on the code inspector. I guess they feel the police will protect them so they can violate the code laws.
He could only deal with a limited number of issues. I have noticed that there are more young children there now. I used to think the loud music was coming from inside the house. I was wrong. It was coming from the tool shed where they had an electrical cord running from the house.
O'Malley has created a sanctuary state with all the benefits and they will continue to come and the taxpayers will continue to pay and we will wind up like California.

Buzz, call dept of housing for baltimore county and tell them somebody living in a tool shed also tell code enforcement. You can call annonymous. Send a note to landlord and tell him he can and will be charged with felony because he is aiding and abetting and he has been pre-warned. Keep at it. If the yards filthy and you see rat holes, call county. In baltimore city its a $60.00 fine for having rat holes. Maryland is broke because we support illegals so they make it up by charging citizens for stupid crap..If you want to send me address, i'll find landlord and send him info that will put the fear of God in him. I know your on facebook. i can send you my email if you want.

amdactivist: Thanks for the information. Send me your email, that will be good.
After all of Olzsewski's talk about dealing with the rats and finding a minimum amount of money for eradication and code enforcement, people are still throwing out bags of trash which feed the rats. In my part of the county you can watch the rats run the streets at night. There are more rat holes in this community than stars in the sky.
I had always believed that a rat eradication program with strict code enforcement was the way to go. As for the councilman he can not find the money, at least as far as the rats go.
