Community Leaders Award Police Colonel For Outstanding Service
Colonel Kim Ward, Chief of the Baltimore County Police Department's Community Resources Bureau, was recognized by leadership from county Police Community Relations Councils at a Saturday evening bull roast.

Amidst the revelry at a Saturday night bull roast, leaders from Baltimore County's Police Community Relations Councils took a moment to recognize one member of the force for her contribution to their mission.
Col. Kim Ward, the chief of Baltimore County's Community Resources Bureau, was recognized for her outstanding leadership and continual support of the groups that serve as liaisons between communities and the department.
"In New York, there's a statue that represents hope and liberty—here in Baltimore County, we don't have such a statue but we do have one woman you all know and respect," said Rolfe Feser, vice-president of the board of Baltimore County's Police Community Relations Council. "Col. Ward truly embodies the police department's motto of fairness, integrity and service."
Feser said that in a department that is always changing, Ward's leadership has remained consistent.
"We wanted to recognize that leadership and her ongoing support of these groups," said Graceann Rehbein, treasurer for the board of the county PCRC groups.
"Col. Ward is a breath of fresh air, and a personal mentor of mine," she said.
Col. Ward, for her part, had no idea she was to be recognized during the event, which was held at the American Legion Hall in Parkville.
"I'm a little embarrassed ... I had no idea," Ward said. "It's just an honor ... this group of citizen leaders has been so impressive."

Col. Kim is definitely a huge influence on the PCRC's. She's a class act and the Baltimore County PD is very lucky to have her!

t was great to see the top community leaders come out to honor Colonel Ward.
Kudos to County Executive Kevin Kamenetz, Chief Jim Johnson, Councilwoman Kathy Bevins, White Marsh Captain Mike Balog, retired Col. Dennis Robinson and former Councilman Joe Bartenfelder and the rest of the capacity crowd who showed up to honer one of top women police commanders in the country, Kim Ward.
The biggest event I've been to this year. A great night.

Kim has been on of my heroes in today's police department. She deserves this. Keep up the good work Col. Ward.
