Dundalk Farmers Market to Open Saturday

Because of popular demand, the market will open about four weeks earlier than usual.

The people asked and they shall receive.

Because of popular demand — from both farmers and customers — the Dundalk Farmers Market will open for the season on June 9, instead of waiting until the weekend after Heritage Fair.

Shoppers looking for local produce, eggs, chicken and honey will have their chance again beginning Saturday at 7 a.m., according to Chamber of Commerce member Lil Tirschman, who has chaired the market effort in the past.

At least seven farmers are expected the first week, Tirschman said, including those who will sell produce, eggs, honey and soft crabs.

The market, which is held along Shipping Place in front of the Dundalk Village Shopping Center, will be open from 7 a.m. to noon.

The market will not be open June 30 while the Heritage Fair is running, Tirschman said, but will resume July 7.
