Dundalk Woman Killed in Curtis Creek Beltway Crash

Victoria DeAngelo of Dundalk drove the wrong way on Interstate 695, causing the fatal crash, police said.

A head-on collision Sunday night on Interstate 695, near the Curtis Creek drawbridge, claimed two lives, including a Dundalk woman and White Marsh toddler.

Victoria DeAngelo, 21, of Dundalk, drove her Chevrolet Cobalt the wrong direction on the outer loop of I-695 at about 10 p.m. Sunday. She then crashed into a Hyundai Santa Fe at 10:01 p.m., according to Sgt. Jonathan Green, a Maryland Transportation Authority Police spokesman.

DeAngelo was pronounced dead at the scene, Green confirmed.

The driver of the Hyundai Santa Fe, 29-year-old Kimberly Taylor, a White Marsh resident, was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with serious injuriesTaylor's daughter, 3-year-old Lily Kelley, was rushed to Johns Hopkins, where she died. Taylor's other daughter, 2-month-old Mackenzie Kelley, was also taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she is in stable condition, according to Green.

Maryland Transportation Authority Police continue to investigate.

"It appears that Victoria DeAngelo entered the outer loop of the beltway using the wrong ramp and going the wrong direction," Green said.

This is so sad, heart felt prayers to both families. It's so scary these construction sites , there marked but can be very confusing even for someone who has driven for years. All the lights they use equipment moving around , I hope that we can learn from this. God bless!!!!

I feel bad this happened. It may be a good idea to take younger drivers over the local roads and explain the nuances of driving the vicinity of on/off ramps by older more mature drivers. Apparently it can be confusing for some. I speak from experience as I had a head-on collision on an expressway with a car/driver going the wrong way due to the same mistake some years ago. My van went airborn and his car was totaled and he died too. I know we cannot eliminate all such driving error but we can do what we can. I know most ramps are clearly marked with do not enter signs etc but darkness and confusion still occurs. What a sad time these families face during this holiday season and the rest of their lives. We pray for your healing and comfort.

Victoria had a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit. And, she had tramadol in her system. It was not a "driving error." Victoria killed a child because she chose to drink excessively and then get behind the wheel of a vehicle. Her family must live with that fact.

Her punishment doesn't fit her crime. She chose to drive while under the influence of drugs and alcohol and now she doesn't have to face what was coming to her. When is America going to wake up and fix these issues? What these idiots do is by getting behind a wheel of a vehicle premeditated so start charging and sentencing accordingly. Call it what it really is It’s MURDER by vehicle.

Your right no ones perfect but a MISTAKE is locking your keys in your car, forgetting to pay a bill or putting on different shoes. MURDER is purposely getting behind the wheel of a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and killing someone.

Yeah freddy and lee I am sure she intended to kill someone and herself and injure someone else. Being under the influence means your mind is altered and which can lead to making a very bad decision. Why dont you two idoits keep your comments to yourself?

Well, she certainly set up a near perfect scenario to do so, didn't she? The decisions she made were hers and hers alone.

Pound sand Paul. The young girl took an innocent life only thinking of herself.

Yes Victoria did make a huge mistake that cost her life and her family has to deal with the loss of there child and what she has done. She isn't here to answer for what major mistake she made.but that doesn't change the fact that both families will never be the same.it is sad all the way round.

All I know is the girls mother should get locked up for making her daughter an addict I used to work with the girl she would get drugs for her and her mother. I'm sure she was high and drunk you guys must be her friends. People need to get a grip on who people really were she was an addict that got high and drunk and killed a kid. Girl used to nod off constantly so I can only imagine how she looked driving that night. Death was a blessing for her. Hope her mom is happy

I am saying it was a blessing for her, because now she doesn't have to live the life she was living the one of addiction, pain and abuse :)
