After Fire, Barricade, Perry Hall Man Could Face Charges

Charges could be filed against an unidentified man after he is evaluated at a local hospital, police announced.

(UPDATE, 11:45 p.m.)—A man who barricaded himself in a Perry Hall home Saturday evening was taken into police custody, Baltimore County police announced.

Police said he would be taken to a local hospital for an evaluation and could later face criminal charges.

Fire department personnel first responded at 6:15 p.m. to a call about a fire in the yard outside a home in the 4100 block of Link Avenue in Perry Hall in the Nottingham zip code. The fire was put out, but a man at the property retreated into the house, according to police department spokesman Lt. Robert McCullough.

Fire department personnel attempted to talk to the man, at which time they observed firearms. The man barricaded himself in the house and refused to come out, McCullough stated in the release.

Police responded and the man was taken into police custody around 9:30 p.m., according to McCullough.

So, what I'm reading is the man burned something in his yard then went inside and that somehow constitutes a barricade situation????? The man's home is his castle. If he wanted to go inside and stay, so what? Sounds like over-zealous police work.

He actually lit his house on fire. Not stuff in his yard.

Information about the yard fire was provided by the police department. I'll update as additional information is known, and I'll look into your info, Curtis. — Marge

He sounds like a total Froot loop... If he had nothing to hide, why wouldn't he just speak to the police?

You are correct Al ! I was across the street , the police were out of control ! Running around with machine guns pointing them @ innocent bystanders. !!!
Very poor police representation in my opinion !
They were eager to shoot someone tonight !
I am glad the homeowner wasn't hurt .

I wonder what the "later criminal charges" might be?

There's got to be more to this story.

There is. My good friend was a firefighter that responded to a fire IN THE KITCHEN. When first responders entered the basement where they saw movement, the man was spray painting his entire basement. When they searched the house for more fire, they found loaded rifles. The guy freaked, they left, SWAT showed up and he refused to come out. When you set a fire, and call 911, actions are taken as policy dictates. Charges will probably be arson, obstruction and anything else they can find.

I must agree that there has to be more to this story. It appears that certain individuals making these comments have more than a few screws loose and like to exaggerate. In most barricade situations the county police tactical units are the ones that respond and yes they do carry assault weapons to be used if needed. In as much as my family and myself lived at 4116 Link ave. over 45 years ago I'd say not much has changed over the years other than the street is no longer a dead-end.

In light of the fact that fireman recently responded to an arson fire and were then shot, I don't blame them for calling in the police.

In the fire where there were shots fired .. happened in new york state .. four were shot .. two of them killed ...when a firefighter enters a "firescene" and sees guns .. that means ammo .. which cooks off in fires ..
firefighters get kinda of funny when there's an unexpected life threat..
as for the "man's home is his castle" post .. would you be saying that if the "home" is a mosque??
