Motorcyclist Killed in Dundalk Crash
Donald Gray Snyder IV died of the injuries he received in the July 6 crash.
A Dundalk motorcyclist died Friday afternoon in a crash at the intersection of Lynch and Deihlwood roads.
Donald Gray Snyder IV, 35, of the 1900 block of Searles Road, was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center where he died of injuries sustained in the crash, according to a statement from the Baltimore County Police Department.
Police officers responded to the scene of the crash at about 5:18 p.m. July 6.
Investigators determined that a 2001 Dodge Ram pick-up truck driven by Robert Joseph Jones, 70, of the 500 block of Bayside Drive, was attempting to turn left onto Deihlwood Road from southbound Lynch Road.
A 1994 Suzuki Ninja motorcycle driven by Snyder was northbound on Lynch Road and struck the right front wheel area of the Dodge truck.
Snyder was in cardiac arrest at the scene and was taken to Bayview, where he died at 5:53 p.m., according to the statement.
The Baltimore County Crash Team's investigation of the crash is not complete and continues, according to the statement.

The csene is less than half a block from the intersection of Lynch road and Wise Ave.For southbound traffic on Lynch intending to make the left into Wise it is often difficult to see oncoming trafic because of standing vehicles on northbound Lynch also waiting to make the left. Then, more often than not vehicles traveling straight through on northbound Lynch often move at greater than reasonable speed thus creating a killer intersection.
One night I was traveling south on the JFX just south of the beltway when I was passed by one of those "crotch rockets" and he had to be doing over 100 mph. I was certain I would encounter a wrecked motorcycle a little further down the road but i didn't, to my amazement.

Wayne, on 695 they are one of the worst traffic safety hazards on the road. I'm surprised with all the road resurfacing going on and the speeds their driving there aren't more crashes and fatalities.

There is no evidence at all of the motorcycle speeding. The motorcycle had the right of way. The fact that the motorcycle struck the FRONT tire area of the truck shows that the truck pulled out dead in front of the motorcycle at the last second, leaving the poor cyclist with no way to avoid the crash and his death. Some 25-30% of all motorcycle deaths are like this according to the national statistics this is very sad and much too high. The offending automobile driver almost always says they did not see the motorcyclist. Drivers need to be mire aware of motorcycles. Look two or three times when pulling out or crossing roads. I have had three friends die exactly this way . Look hard for cyclists before taking a right of way. Someone's life is depending on you. This motorcyclist could have been seen by an observant driver and be alive today. Look out for motorcycles and share the road safely.

Ed I did not suggest in this particular crash any casual factors. The crash team will reconstruct the entire event and make a report. I do look out for MC's but it is difficult to react to them at the high speeds they are traveling.
You can hear the sounds of their engines every day in Dundalk.

People passing judgement on the rider and not the fact that the driver is 70 years old. maybe he shouldn't have been driving at all .there needs to be stricter testing for seniors who continue to drive .people's lives are at stake .my brother-in-law Donnie was an experienced rider . Now the family is left grieving . Most cycle crashes are not the rider's fault despite what people think.

Lynch and Wise is a horrible intersection..So many people fly on Lynch Road it's amazing that we don't have reports of more accidents.. The lights need a different pattern to not allow the turn lanes turn to oncoming traffic. They should have their own turn light and have to wait till it cycles through again..My prayers go out to the family. I know this did not occur at the intersection but pretty close.

Tommy - u probably don't remember me (Terry Miller) but we grew up together. All of us use to play together down the shore (my grandparents house in Essex; Ada & Joe Krempel). Christina would remember me from there (I snagged her with a fishing hook in her neck LOL when we were younger and fishing down there) and we went to school together. Sorry about rambling on, but I also went to school with Donnie and I can't believe he's gone . I'm sorry for your loss. Please e-mail me at softballfam39@gmail.com when u get a chance.

Ug. This makes my stomach hurt that I didn't get to go to the funeral. I couldn't find a listing for it. Donnie and I were tight for 3 years in high school before he went off to the Marines. He was the first of our group to get his license. This whole thing is sad to me. I'll still have all the good times we would cut up together.
