Suddenly on Friday, Feb. 1, Richard Ivey Sasser Sr., 71, died.
He was born April 18, 1941. He was the beloved son of the late Jesse E. Sasser Sr. and Nannie L. Vernon.
He is survived by brother Ralph O. Sasser and sister Elouise L. Vaught and his Aunt Louise Bailey He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert E., Donald and Jesse E. Sasser, and sister Margaret L. Browning.
Survived by former wife, Carole Richardson (nee Ruckle) and five children, Richard Sasser Jr., Betty Correll (Bill); Babara J. Fisher (Robert); James M. Sasser Sr. (Stephanie); and Tina M. Dennison (Jeff).
Also survived by 17 grandchildren, Richard Sasser III, Jacob Sasser, James Sasser Jr., Amanda Sasser, Jesse Sasser, Ernest Fowler III, Alicia Craig, Lindsey Miller, James Miller, Matthew Smith, Kimberly Seel, Jessie Fisher, Robert fisher III, Raymond Fisher, Cristina Kanik, Steven Lansinger,and Rachel Lansinger . 7 great grandchildren, Corrine Craig, Madison Seel, Buddy Seel, Colin Layfield, Jayden Sasser, Kayleigh Santiago, and Destan Kanik.
Richard is survived by his beloved partner of numerous years, Iris Poole, and her daughters, Iris White, (Earl), Kimberly Rinker and Tammy LeBrun (AJ). Also survived by grandchildren Ryan Sasser, Ralph Sasser, Earl White Jr and Dillon LeBrun.
He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was retired from General Motors and worked for Packer Norris Parts at the time of his death. As a young man he served in the US Army. He was a member of the Rosedale American Legion Post # 180. He was well loved by a lot of people and had a lot of friends. He will be missed by all.
