Patapsco High Students Place in Competitive Art Exhibition

Two Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts seniors won awards in the Optimist Club of Timonium's Young Artists Showcase.

Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts students continue to win recognition for both their school and their artwork.

Two students recently won awards in the Young Artists Showcase, an art exhibition sponsored by the Optimist Club of Timonium, school officials have announced.

Senior Alaina Savarese received first place honors in photography while senior Safiya Brown was named the third-place winner in painting.

Brown made news just last week when it was announced she won a countywide magnet school poster contest. That award-winning work will be featured in Baltimore County Public Schools magnet program literature next year, and also advances to a national competition sponsored by Magnet Schools of America.

The Young Artists Showcase featured the work of students enrolled in private and public schools throughout the Baltimore metropolitan area, and Patapsco was the only school with two students recognized, according to a statement from the school.

Congratulations to both students and their teachers.
