Police: Man Jumps From Overpass Into I-95 Construction
Emergency crews responded at about 9 a.m. on Thursday, police said.
A man was injured after jumping from an overpass into a construction zone on Interstate 95 Thursday morning.
The unidentified man jumped from the ramp carrying traffic from southbound I-95 toward the inner loop of Interstate 695 toward Essex at about 9 a.m., according to Baltimore County police spokeswoman Louise Rogers-Feher.
The man was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center with multiple injuries, Rogers-Feher said.
The man's condition was not immediately known, and police had no further details.

Is the economy driving these people to do this?

No, people being unable or unwilling to cope with life causes this.
The only thing new about this phenomena is that local reporting is improved.
It's sad and my condolences for this person's family...but we ALL deal with dire straits at various points in our lives, whether they are fiscal, emotional, mental, or physical. Usually it's a combination of two or more, myself included.
You either persevere through them for the sake of those who love and care about you, or you give up and just hurt others. There are places to get help but you have to want to be helped.

thank you so much - nspl is so important . . . and, by the way, a note to you wiseguys:
i'm shocked at your attitudes . . . if you think suicidal ideation is humorous, your thought processes could possibly be in your digestive tract . . .

Just the thought of Obama is enough to do it--or, at most, seeing and listening to him! But, I am sure that the bleak economic condition of the country, with losses of homes and/or jobs and/or families, is the culprit--even if one should want to attribute the economic condition to the former administration or something other than the current inept leadership and policies.

That would be a yet to be diagnosed brain disorder that will be named PTBS. A devastating mental disorder that turns its victims into bots. Sort of Body Snatcher stuff. (for the younger, look up body snatchers)
The disease of PTBS causes involuntary reflexes more commonly known as knee jerk.
Look at the new news on the national security failure of this regime and what they knew and when they knew it and STILL allowed the Ambassador and his 3 aids to be slaughtered. The cover up is being exposed.
Many here slur and hold contempt for those who may watch Fox News among many other outlets, but here is name of a Fox reporter beyond criticism and beyond any allegation of bias. Katherine Herridge. Here is a link to a HuffPo piece about her 2 years ago. She is Fox News leading national security foreign correspondent. There can be no source slurs against her. She is the best and she must be watched and listened to.

Suicides happen all of the time. A few years ago a neighbor living about 15 houses down the street from me committed suicide right in his home. I was listening to my scanner when the initial call came out to the Fire Department. I heard the Paramedic Supervisor's vehicle screaming down our street and then I heard him report that the "suicide attempt" was a successful suicide. This man left a wife and two beautiful youngsters behind. I never heard a word about it in the media. Normally suicides are NOT reported by the media because it tends to give those who ar thinking about suicide the impetus to just go ahead and do it.
I hope that this man receives the help he needs.

I think all that needs to be said now is this is tragic. The facts aren't even out and people are assuming what happened, digressing into LOL's, politics and joking about it. Stop.

Just re-read the above article. Nowhere does it mention suicide. Maybe it was. Maybe he did not realize he was on an elevated ramp (high or drunk?) Maybe he was running from someone (the Police?).
Maybe we should wait for more information.

2 days in a row. Another jumped fromt the Key bridge this morning. Terrible, the lack of hope in these stories. Perhaps a referendum on a ban on jumping off bridges will help:)
