Update: Police Shoot Suspect in Dundalk Home Invasion
A man was shot by Baltimore County police after a woman called to report that there was a masked, armed suspect inside her home on the 3200 block of Wallford Ave. Monday morning.
Updated 7:10 p.m.
Baltimore County police said an officer shot a man following a home invasion Monday morning in Dundalk.
According to a news release from the police department, a woman awoke around 10 a.m. to find a masked, armed man in her home on the 3200 block of Wallford Ave.
Police said the woman left her house and called 911.
Officers responded to a call of an armed robbery in progress.
One of the officers found a man armed with a semi-automatic handgun on the back porch. The officer repeatedly ordered the man to drop the weapon, but he refused to comply and turned towards the officer.
The officer then fired his service weapon, striking the man several times.
The suspect, a 27 year-old man, has been treated and released from the hospital.
The suspect robbed the victims of an undisclosed amount of money. It is not known if there is any connection between the suspect and the victims.
"I was in my living room cleaning when, I heard the cops speed down the road," said Christina Zeberlein a neighbor. “Then I heard about six shots.”
The man was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for treatment, where his condition is unknown, according to the release.
The officer has been placed on routine administrative leave pending the results of an internal review of the incident.

I'm just relieved that the woman is okay. Tis the season for people to be desperate. By the way, Charlesmont may not be full of druggies, but it is full of child molestors. Have you ever looked at it on the sexual predator website?

It's very refreshing to read postive comments about the police. They don't receive enough credit for the amazing job they do.

I guess this bad guy didn't get the message don't come into the county and commit crimes. It's also a good idea when an officer tells you -- several times -- to drop your weapon you comply with that command.
I would be curious to see the suspect's record. Generally these bad guys who engage in these types of crimes have long criminal records and probably should not have been on the streets.
Credit to the officer and the firing range training staff. That is where you learn to react under stress. One of the best ranges in the country.

MidNIght Irshman, what is perplexing is this was almost an amateur hour crime considering the time of the crime, 10 am and the confrontation with the police officer.
The two questions I have concern possibly another - go ahead and shoot me officer - and I wonder what his criminal background was, and his IQ?

Ever think this story does not sound right? Eye witnesses state the suspect had no gun.And also that this is a known drug house. Why else is the amount of cash undisclosed?? Stop jumping on the band wagon until you know the facts or the corruption that exists when the BCPD shoots an unarmed man. I am not even convinced there was a home invasion. Heard he was let in the back door by the occupants brother. Hmmmmmm!

Lasa, you make some rather profound statements, that are in direct contrast with the media version. Who are the witnesses who claim the man was unarmed. If, as you claim, this is a drug house, there is a reasonable expectation that there could be weapons involved.
This quote was taken from the story: "Officers responded to a call of an armed robbery in progress.
Continued quote - "One of the officers found a man armed with a semi-automatic handgun on the back porch. The officer repeatedly ordered the man to drop the weapon, but he refused to comply and turned towards the officer."
Under the law, an officer is allowed to use deadly force if he is fear of his life. Their actions are established on a variety of factors such as the type of call, does the suspect respond to the officers commands along with other issues.
You jumped on the "band wagon," in a big way by making an accusation that the "BCPD shoots an unarmed man."
What is the bases of this statement? Who are the witness you are making reference to?
A call comes into 911 of an armed robbery, there is a protocol in the type of response.
Before making such judgements I would be a little more specific on your information.
Most cops I know, don't go to work with the intention of becoming involved in shooting someone.

Better yet, why don't you tell us the inside story? You claim to know it. That should be interesting since you have no information about anything including yourself. You are probably the most unreliable person on this site to ever make comments, including having them deleted by Patch.
You have no creditability in anything, work, education, life experience and so on.
Here is what my sources say - said in jest - how you will respond. YOU WON'T AND CAN'T! I have never heard an adult use your favorite word "squealer." Kids yes, adults no.
You know nothing about this issue because you have no creditability in anything.
You have never offered a articulated response in your existence which is nill.
Here is your chance to show your metal, but as usual in your case, your responses are pitted in rust.
Let Lasa answer the questions I posed in their second posting on this site.

Rick, thank you and you enjoy the same Merry Christmas and hopefully a happy new year. If you have family enjoy the experience.
For me, I guess after a long time of others thinking I was just a naysayer and trouble maker, finally some issues are coming to light that vindicate some of what I have been writing about.
It seems the media is starting to take a closer look at some serious issues that have laid dormant for years.
In my letter to the Sun, Thursday, I wrote, "Without an honest and unbiased media, the fabric of our government becomes tattered."
I truly believe this and the issues can be national, local and world.
I am trying to limit my responses to this person and it is sad to see one's whole agenda rapped around responding to anther's comments and that partially includes me.

It is unfortunate that all branches of the media is more interested in pushing their own agenda instead of just reporting the facts. Then let people decide for themselves. But unfortunately there are to many sites like the Huffington Post and I am sure there are others that have no credabilty and just spew hate and false information.I was wondering when he would chime in and just like a bad penny there he is

You are and have been the laughingstock of the Department.

Alright rick, what is the the medias agenda? If they did not report the facts as they were reported to them by a police spokeswomen, then what are they? You made the claim, no back it up with some facts. Do you have a working relationship with any reputable reporter or publication?
You mention one site the Huffington Post and others that have no creditability. Are you on the same intellectual level as Armstrong. You make statement without any facts to back up those statements.
Who spews hate? Me? Armstrongs remarks toward me are deleted by Patch and you call me a "bad penny," and you say that I spew hate?. I report on the facts. Name one in which I did not report the issues correctly. Go ahead and name one and make sure you can back it up with facts and not just rhetoric.
You try and be civil with people like you and you refer to me as a "bad penny." What is the basis for that statesmen? Because you disagree with me your unsubstantiated remarks puts you and you friend in the same category.
I chose the high road unlike you and those you speak of. Can't wait to hear you factual analysis. More condensing remarks won't cut it.
How can people decide for themselves unless there is information presented.
You make claims but present no factual rebuttal.
Another no name person who claims to have the answers but can't even tell us what his own name and background are. A real class act.
That is what I get for being civil.

Rock J. I owe you an apology. I saw the arrow reply and the bad penny reference and that threw me. It was too late to delete it or edit - again my peave with Patch. The penny was used as a reference to bad cops years ago. I had to read the reply and the direction of the arrow which was suppose to indicate a reply to my remark and that is when I got confused.
Sorry for the mistake, again my humble apologies. I need a break.

I made my apology to rick and hope that he accepts it. I take full responsibility for misinterpreting ricks remarks.
Too many things going on and slowing down is the first order of business. I have made these mistakes before, I just need to learn from them.
In days gone by the term bad penny - unknown to many - was used in the description of cops. A friend pointed out the blunder I made and has told me many times to slow down. I just need to listen to this advice. There comes a point in time when your brain gets fried and you need to back off before going off as they say "half cocked."

Bart, I know that I lost an edge. I deal with it every day. The medication I must use takes a toll on one's cognitive ability and you don't have a choice, you have to take it. You can't go down and expect every thing to be the same afterward.
That is not the first time I overreacted without taking the time to slow down and try and offset some of these issue. You cannot feel more foolish than I just did, but that sadly for me the way it is. I continue to make these blunders.
There is some solace that stain medication is the leading cause of the misdiagnoses of memory and cognitive issues in the country.
I think you have said you have some sons so I hope you and your family have a nice Christmas and New Year.

Bart, read this article by Dr. Duane Graveland, from NASA. He was a victim of the side affects of these medications. Other current studies are being done at JHU.

Other dangerous drugs that are used used to calm elderly patients with Dementia causes memory issues that can be almost as impairing as the disease. One of the widely used and effective ones is Alprazolam. The common name is Xanax.
This is an anti-anxiety medication that according to the Geriatrician doctor that treats my parent can cause severe memory loos issues.
Beta blockers are another issue.

One of the main reasons some of this research is slow in reaching the public is the financial impact on the drug companies. It was not until others who were impacted by these medications and began to speak out did researchers begin to publish articles on these issues.
As recent study by the University of California, San Diego, they said the leading cause of the misdiagnoses of Alzheimer's and dementia is statins.
