Three Injured in Five-Car Crash in Dundalk

Three patients were taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center Tuesday afternoon.

A five-car crash Tuesday afternoon at Merritt Boulevard near Old North Point Road injured three people and tied up traffic on both sides of Merritt Boulevard.

Baltimore County police and fire personnel responded to the crash at about 2:30 p.m., according to public safety Spokeswoman Louise Rogers-Feher.

The chain reaction crash began when a Chevrolet Equinox, traveling from Eastern Boulevard to southbound Merritt Boulevard, reportedly did not stop for a red light at the intersection at Old North Point Road, according to Rogers-Feher.

The Equinox struck a Nissan Maxima, which then struck a Chevrolet Traverse, which in turn struck both a Chrysler Pacifica and a Honda Civic.

All of the struck cars were stopped for the light.

The Equinox kept going, crossed three northbound lanes and landed in the northbound shoulder of Merritt Boulevard, but facing south.

Three people were transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center—one with serious injuries —and two that Rogers-Feher referred to as "ambulatory, the walking wounded."

"Their injuries were less serious," she said.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending, according to the spokeswoman.
