Two Men Charged with Robbing Dundalk Resident of Poker Winnings

Two men were arrested and charged with assaulting and robbing a 48-year-old Dundalk man after he left a St. Helena Avenue pub Thursday night.

According to a Baltimore County police report, the man told police he had been drinking at the Open Hearth Inn when he says he won a payout from a poker machine.

After he left the tavern near the city and county line, two men followed and attacked him at the intersection of Central and Baltimore avenues, according to the police report.

The men punched and kicked the Dundalk man and stole $46, the police report states.

The two suspects fled the scene but were later spotted walking down the street by Baltimore County police officers, police say.

Following a foot chase, the two men attempted to hide in the Airport Bar but were arrested, according to police.

Jamal A. Thomison, 26, of the 5700 Radecke Ave., Baltimore, was charged with robbery, second-degree assault and theft of less than $100.

Akhyim Daawud Irvin, 23, of the 2900 block of Cornwall Road, Dundalk, was charged  with robbery, second-degree assault, theft of less than $100 and possession of marijuana.

Both men are being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center.

The Open Hearth Inn, according to online Baltimore City liquor license records, is owned by Ioannis K. Chronakis and Proctor Taylor, Jr. A man identfying himself as the bar owner refused to give his full name when Patch contacted the bar. He said the bar does have poker machines, but does not pay out.

"We have a sign that says for 'For Amusement Purposes Only,'" he said.
