This story is way off. What about the "Lifeguards"who cleared the water. What about all the "Beach Visitors" that were there with their families trying to enjoy some fun. Woud like to say Great job to al the lifeguards who jumped into action, and a Great job to all the beach visitors who volunteered to help search the beaches for a child that was in the man's head.... what a waste of tax dollars,,,, should have to pay for it when he get out!!! Fire Dept, Police, and DNR..... great job!!!

Im glad there was no one hurt, injured or worse but he took resourses away from there post for a REAL EMERGENCY.... Again...Great Job, Great Response, Excellent Volunteers!!!!

I was there, too, the man seemed to be sincere, was crying, I even stopped to pray with him for his child. I was impressed by the number of people who came out to help search the waters for the missing child. However, I did feel the lifeguards delayed responding for longer than neccessary. It was almost an hour between when the man said his child was missing and when the lifeguards asked the people on the second beach to come out of the water. Instead of searching for the child, they were busy asking me and my friends if we had even seen the man with a child. Concerned, you seem to be implying that he didn't lose a child there, is that correct? For the sake of the child, I hope he wasn't there, wasn't lost, or abducted, or any of the other nightmares that come to mind when you think of a missing child. If that is the case, then I am upset that my family's afternoon was cut short and that my kids were distraught all for nothing. That being said, if it were me reporting that my child were missing (God forbid), I would surely hope that the lifeguards would take me seriously and respond by immediately emptying the beaches and looking for my child, rather than looking to discredit me by implying to bystanders that I may not have had a child with me in the first place. I can't judge without knowing all the details, but I would hope people hired to save lives would respond first to ensure safety and then ask questions later. Just my 2 cents, for what it's worth.

how are you finding out that this report was bogus?

I was there as well and he was sitting behind me and he had a child! Was it his boy i dont no there were alot of boys playing where me and my boys sat.

so which is it a false report of a child he never had or did he actually lose a child?
If Im reading right one person says its bogus the other said they saw him with a child ? could it be that he had a child (was seen with a child ) but that he never lost that child ? and its safe some where? any body else see the ambiguity ?

the child that he was talkng to as not his. He came alone.The description was the same as the child he was talking to n was asked several times by different people and he said no,but he is wearing the same shorts. Later, he was arrested.

Wow! How can someone do such a thing? I was so sick to my tummy all that night and found it hard to leave the beach without helping more than what me and my boys did..Lost for words!

I also was there with three friends and our grandchildren, how disturbing this is . I have pictures of the hellicopter and the paramedics and all the people involved. We were devistated thinking what can we do next to help; we inerlocked arms with approx. 60 others to comb the swim area. The system needs to think what else can he do out in society before they release this nut
