LA Fitness, formerly Bally’s of Dundalk and before that, The Holiday Spa, will close its doors this Friday, April 13, a spokesperson for the California firm said today in a phone call.
A spokesperson at the North Point LA Fitness Center location also confirmed the closing.
LA Fitness purchased Bally’s in December and judging by this review was not well received.
Patch.com featured a story in December of 2011 involving the purchase of 170 locations by LA Fitness where the terms of former Bally members came into question.
This comment by a Patch reader revealed some of the questions concerning the membership issue:

"I contacted Bally's 866 number and was told first my membership (and they found my info) was bought by LaFitness. Called LaFitness and they couldn't find my membership. Called back Bally's and was told they have nothing under my name or membership number and that my lifetime membership that was purchased in 1989 was no longer valid." (sic)
In October of 2011, Dundalk Patch also featured the story of 80-year-old Bill Strong’s power lifting achievements at the North Point Boulevard center, which at the time was still Bally’s gym.
No other comments from LA Fitness management are available at this time.

Happy that they will be gone. Other better alternatives are around the area.

Powerhouse has undergone a few changes also. Their overhead must be huge.
