How could you not read the great article by Patch reporters Lisa Rossi, Brian Hooks and Marc Shapiro titled "Vets Back From War Face Shocking Reality" and not be impacted by the plight of those vets?
Did we as a nation not learn anything from the Vietnam War and what those vets went through—and are still going through?
"Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it." — Sir Winston Churchill.
As a retired police officer, I often receive information from our association on potential job openings and this one just came to me. I hope this announcement will lead to some of our vets finding some much-needed work.
Thank your for your service to our country and good luck.

Almost everyone of your comments is directed at me. Are you obsessed with my life? I know your alter ego is. There is medication for OCD. Go to my site and read about my background. I'm surprised the other side of you doesn't prof read your comments before you post.
I'm sorry, I don't think you would pass the background investigation for the position.
Why don't you create a boiler room? The more hits on the site the better.

Thanks for this post, Buzz. I'm doing a round-up of resources/jobs for veterans as a follow-up to the last veterans article and am including this job opportunity in there.

The job announcement states the applicant must be a retired fire or police employee. I suppose a vet can also satisfy this condition as well, but it opens up another question...if you are drawing a retirement check from the county, how can you also draw a paycheck? I know our county exec and others do this, but the county charter prohibits this practice. I personally know of one retired firefighter that was fired from BCCC after he retired, stating he couldn't double dip.
Sorry this is on the verge of off topic, but it still kind of fits.

Jimmy the county executive has made it a point for the county to hire veterans and Patch did a rather detailed story on it as per the link.

Trust me, the county can make what ever changes they want, they do it all the time and in this case I think it would be foolish for them to turn down a vet in favor of a retiree.
Yes they do hire retired officers because they get the experience without the price tag and benefits. I get these notices all the time and I'll pass them on to Lisa.
