Happenings You Should Witness for Yourself

Check out upcoming Dundalk-Historical Society meetings and special guest author Deborah Rudacille at the Heritage Fair.

There are two must-see local events coming up thatI want to make sure everyone knows about.

The first is at the Dundalk-Patapsco Neck Historical Society and Museum on June 20 at 7 p.m. Chuck Ives, a member of the Baltimore County War 1812 Bicentennial Advisory Committee, will present  on the War of 1812 - coming up on its 100th anniversary.

The second must-see for Dundalkians is annual the Heritage Fair, in particular, author and Dundalk-native Deborah Rudacille. Rudacille is a science writer and the author of "The Riddle of Gender: Science, Activisim, and Transgender Rights," and "The Scalpel and the Butterfly: The War Between Animal Research and Animal Protection."

And she also wrote my favorite book – that my son gave to me for Christmas last year. It's about a place where my Dad, my Uncle and most of you, and or someone related to you has worked. And now, there are new noises of production there, where once we only had hope.

Beth Steel is what helped my family ease through society and Rudacille's most recent book was written with the help of many Dundalkians: "Roots of Steel: Boom and Bust in an American Mill Town."
