Expect Warm Temperatures, Severe Thunderstorms

Think twice before you open all of your windows during today's 71-degree weather—or at least make sure you close up the house before the afternoon. 

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to reach the Dundalk area by 2 p.m. and continue until 7 p.m. Scattered showers could extend until 10 p.m., the National Weather Service reports.

The chance of precipitation is 100 percent.

Some thunderstorms could be severe, bringing damaging winds and heavy rain. Winds are expected at 19-22 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph in the afternoon and evening. 

Winds will likely pick up in the evening as temperatures drop, gusting as high as 43 mph.

What does NWS predict for Tuesday? Sunny and calm, but a little chillier with a high near 48 degrees.

Here is the three-day forecast from the National Weather Service: 

Monday afternoon: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 4 p.m. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. High near 71. Breezy, with a west wind 19 to 22 mph decreasing to between 11 and 14 mph. Winds could gust as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. 

Monday night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 10 p.m., then a slight chance of showers between 10 p.m. and midnight. Low around 33. Windy, with a north wind 11 to 14 mph increasing to between 25 and 28 mph. Winds could gust as high as 43 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. 

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 48. North wind between 10 and 13 mph becoming calm. 

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 34. South wind between 3 and 7 mph. 

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 54. West wind between 8 and 10 mph. 

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 29.
