Maryland Attitude: Quiz Reveals Moods in Each State

An online map from TIME shows dominant attitudes for each state.

If you're an extrovert, there's a chance you'll find more like-minded people in Wisconsin than Maryland. A new "mood map" featured on the TIME website shows ratings for each state based on dominant personality traits and attitudes.

The TIME map and quiz are based on a study published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. The online quiz asks 10 questions about how people see themselves.

"Openness" was a quality that exceeded the national average in Maryland, which ranked 14th for being an open place while Washington, DC, ranked first.

Being neurotic ranked Maryland in the top 25, but the state received low ratings in agreeableness and extraversion (both No. 44) and conscientiousness (No. 45).
