Colgate Selected for Community Revitalization Effort

The nonprofit Rebuilding Together Baltimore will focus on Dundalk and northeast Baltimore City.

Low-income homeowners will have assistance making critical home repairs this spring, as a local nonprofit has identified Colgate as one of its target areas for volunteers.

Rebuilding Together Baltimore, which coordinates home improvement efforts, is taking on 30 projects in Dundalk's Colgate community and Baltimore City's Mid-Govans neighborhood, according to a news release.

The organization’s goal is to help preserve affordable homeownership in the two communities, while revitalizing the neighborhoods as a whole, the release states.

Through the efforts of volunteers, residents can "stay warmer, safer and drier in their homes," said Rebuilding Together Baltimore Executive Director Bonnie Bessor in a news release.

This year's Rebuilding Day event, when more than 600 volunteers turn out to make critical improvements, will take place April 27.
