Volunteers Busy Building the 'Stanstock' Village in Parkville

The two-day music festival will be held at McAvoy's in Parkville this weekend.

Volunteers are busy setting up the outdoor stage and other facilities for Stanstock, a two-day music festival that kicks off tomorrow in Parkville.

McAvoy's on Putty Hill Avenue is the place to be this weekend to relive the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s through music.

Thirty-eight bands are scheduled to perform more than 35 hours of the music many of you grew up with on two stages—one indoors and one outside.

"We're going to have beautiful weather," Stanstock social media director Russ Clarke told Parkville Patch earlier this week. "But the outdoor stage is fully covered and we'll go on, rain or shine."

Early Friday morning, volunteers were building scaffolding, erecting the stage, arranging portable bathrooms and taking delivery on beer, according to photographs supplied by Robin Sjolander Bloomfield.

Stanstock tickets cost $10 per day or $15 for a two-day pass. They are available online and will be sold at the door.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Nicole Van Horn Trust Fund, with the money earmarked for the Johns Hopkins Pediatric Oncology Center, and the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, also affiliated with Johns Hopkins Hospital.

"Undeniably, it was everyone's choice to have Stanstock benefit cancer—everyone either had lost someone to cancer or knows someone who is battling it," Clarke said earlier this week. "We thought we'd use this event to celebrate victories together and mourn our losses as a family—cancer touches everyone."

The doors open at 10 a.m. and music begins at noon Saturday and Sunday.
