District 6 DEER. Should it be 6A/6B or is it already?

What do you know about District 6?  I will not attempt to give you the history because I expect the correct response will be posted soon. Who was District 7 and District 6 and the reasons for the change.   Presently,  District 6 is made up of the great communities of Dundalk, Essex, Edgemere, Rosedale.  I will refer to it as  DEER.  Each of these communities have their own history and quirks that make them their own.  For the record I grew up in Dundalk. Berkshire to be exact.  There are some that will say that isnt Dundalk either.  I graduated from Dundalk High and DVTC (Sollers) so that makes me a proud Dundalkian.  After marrying my beautiful bride, Bonnie, who is from Edgemere, we moved to Essex in 1974. Even during my 30 years in the military, we kept our residence in Essex.  With that out of the way, lets move on.    If you drive the boundaries of District 6, you will find neighborhoods that are well kept.  Homes that show their love of country by displaying the red, white and blue.

Each of the  communities that make up DEER need to be considered  separately when it comes to community needs.  Each of them need to be represented by their own community leaders when it comes to state and county funding.

I know I will upset a number of people but Dundalk and Essex are separate communites. Yes, I said it,  and guess what  Edgemere is not in Dundalk.  Let me really throw it out there and say that Middle River is not Essex.  Get it off your chest now and tell everyone where you live and what makes your neighborhood standout from the rest.

Why am I rambling about this?  When you talk about community centers, recreation centers, teen centers and senior centers, each neighborhood should have their own.

When you have a sports faciliy in North Point Village, is it suppose to support the youth in Inverness, Gray Manor or Berkshire.  No, they cant get there.  Where is the youth center for the kids in Essex?  Edgemere?  Colgate?  Rosedale?

How do we fund it?  Well everyone of these communities have schools.  Schools with gyms, classrooms, cafeterias, athletics fields and sports courts.  Gray Manor and Inverness have large fields that are whats left from demolishing  the elementary schools.  Put in skate parks, playgrounds, courts.

Chase has a beaultiful county park with numerous fields.  Lets do the same at the empty steel plant parking lots.

It is about neighborhoods and they make succesful, crime free communities.  Lets rekindle that love of where we grew up and where we want to raise our children and grandchildren.

What do you remember about your neighborhood and want to see it again?
