2 NeighborCare Pharmacies in Baltimore County Close

The company shuttered six of its pharmacies recently.

Six NeighborCare pharmacies shuttered over the weekend, the company recently reported, including two in Baltimore County.

Pharmacies in Owings Mills (Crossroads Medical Center) and Pikesville (4000 Old Court Road) closed for good at 4 p.m. on Feb. 7.

Customers' prescriptions were transferred to Walgreens at 1510 Reisterstown Road in Pikesville, where they were available as of Feb. 8.

In addition to the Pikesville and Owings Mills pharmacies, three other NeighborCare locations in Maryland shuttered—in Baltimore (Liberty Medical Center), Southgate (Medical Arts Centre of Glen Burnie) and Columbia (Howard County General Medical Arts Building).

One pharmacy also closed in Ohio, the state where NeighborCare's parent company—Omnicare—is headquartered.

Omnicare closed the pharmacies in a strategic move so it could focus on serving institutions like skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, according to The Baltimore Sun.
