Bank Moving to Former Papa John’s Location

Baltimore County Savings Bank is expected to combine a drive-thru and branch on Holabird Avenue.

Baltimore County Savings Bank officials broke ground on a permanent, freestanding bank branch on Holabird Avenue Wednesday morning.

“Since opening our Dundalk branch in 1976, we have built many long-standing relationships with our customers and the community,” said Joseph Bouffard, president and CEO of BCSB in a press statement.

“We are thrilled to make an even greater commitment to the community at the heart of our bank footprint by providing a new, larger and modern branch to service their needs. Our new Dundalk Branch will be a ‘crown jewel’ and great addition to our bank," Bouffard said.

The move of the branch from the Merritt Park Shopping Center across the street to 7546 Holabird Ave. cames as its lease at Merritt Park was expiring. That area is now scheduled for redevelopment.

Bank officials were looking to consolidate its separate drive-thru and office location there for some time. Construction of the new Dundalk branch will begin in August and is expected to be completed in January 2012 at a projected cost of $1.5 million.

Adjacent to Salvo Auto Parts, Baltimore County Savings Bank will take over the former home of Papa John’s Pizza, which moved several months ago to a nearby location on Merritt Boulevard.

Entering into a long-term land lease across the street from the bank’s former location will enable the bank to maintain service to customers who live within walking distance, branch manager Ginger Smith said.

The bank holds roughly $45 million in deposits, according to David Meadows, executive vice president and general counsel at BCSB.

"After more than 40 years in the community, BCSB proves they are committed to the local economy with a new and expanded permanent location,” said Baltimore County Council Chairman John Olszewski, Sr. in a statement.
