BGE Work to Cause Power Outage in Watersedge Thursday

Forty-six homes will lose power for seven hours as a reliability improvement project is completed.

Close to 50 Watersedge residences will experience a power outage Thursday so BGE employees can complete a project that will improve power reliability in the area, according to a utility official.

"We'll have a seven-hour power outage in Watersedge that will affect about 46 customers on Thursday," BGE spokeswoman Rachel Light said in a phone interview Wednesday. "We'll be doing the work from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m."

In a previous phase of the project, BGE crews rerouted a feeder line that transfers electricity from a sub-station to homes, Lighty said.

On Thursday, crews will remove the de-energized lines that were replaced previously, Lighty said.

The power to the area needs to be turned off so workers can safely remove those deactivated lines, according to Lighty.
