Dundalk Wendy's Heavily Damaged in Weekend Fire

The Merritt Boulevard restaurant sustained about $180,000 in damage.

The Wendy's restaurant on Merritt Boulevard in Dundalk was heavily damaged by a fire early Sunday morning.

Crews were dispatched to the eatery in the 1300 block of Merritt Boulevard at 5:41 a.m. for the report of smoke showing from the building, according to Cpl. Cathy Batton, a spokeswoman for the Baltimore County Police Department.

Upon arrival, crews discovered that a fire had started in the kitchen of the restaurant, which was not occupied at the time.

The fire was brought under control at 6:13 a.m., Batton said.

Firefighters have determined that the fire, which caused about $180,000 in damage, was accidental, according to Batton.

Eighteen pieces of equipment responded to fight the blaze.
