Edgemere's Dock of the Bay Restaurant To Be Sold

The Millers Island waterfront eatery had been closed for the winter.

The Dock of the Bay restaurant, which had been closed for the winter, will not reopen for the spring and will instead be sold.

Larry Thanner, owner of the Millers Island waterfront restaurant, made the announcement late Thursday night on the eatery's Facebook page.

"After careful consideration, owner Larry Thanner has decided to sell Dock of the Bay," the Facebook post, signed by the Dock of the Bay staff, stated. "Dock of the Bay will not be reopening. We would like to thank our loyal patrons! Dock of the Bay will truly be missed."

The restaurant in the fall went from a full-time schedule to a weekend schedule for the winter, and then Thanner closed it altogether. He reopened just for the day on Jan. 26 so he could host the annual Dip at the Dock, a local fundraiser for Maryland Special Olympics.

Good JOB Baltimore County. You harassed another business out of the area. Of course, after the Point closed (after being poked, fined and taxed by OweMalley) there just isn't a lot of money for things like a decent restaurant.

I can't speak for the owner but I would think the reason the owner is selling is more because of all the legal troubles he had with the local residents more than with the Baltimore county government.

Always good food. A good location for a 2 story residential condo community.

Well the neighbors who built their houses in the back yard of a bar/restaurant got their way. What will they do now without all of that noise, maybe move by the airport? Oh, oops then they will have to close that too!

Makes me sick how new comers in this neighborhood can just come in and destroy a nice long standing restaurant which many of us locals and not locals truly enjoyed! Well you got your way.....you totally harassed the owner.....be careful what you wish for!

Roxane knows of what she speaks. Hope the homeowners that built next door to a bar (and thought it would be quiet) haven't bitten off more than they can chew!

That's not what happened at all. It's the result of a messy ass divorce and a partitioning of assets.

Wow, I'd love to own that place.

I don't think the Neighbors were the problem, I think it's the way the owner handled his buisness!! Im glad it's for sale, I hope someone descent buys the place, and runs it better, I love the location and will be happy to become a patron again!! Just my opinion...Eddie

what about existing gift certificates ?
Ralph Swole February 24, 2013 at 03:33 PM
It absolutely is a result of the 'new' locals. As a frequent patron I am very disappointed to hear this news. Baltimore co. is not to blame, they would have never got involved if it wasn't for a couple of uptight stiffs.
