Is Minnick's For Sale?

Local bar on Sollers Point said to be for sale.

The Dundalk bar owned by state Del. Joseph J. "Sonny" Minnick is said to be for sale, according to a neighboring funeral home owner who is considering purchasing the establishment.

Colt Connelly, owner of Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, told Patch recently that he is considering purchasing the tavern known as , located in the 7100 block of Sollers Point.

"We've had preliminary discussions," Connelly said. "I don't think it's any secret that it's been on the block for some time."

Connelly added that he's not sure whether he would buy the liquor license and run a bar at the same location, or simply buy the property where the bar is located. In a phone interview, Connelly appeared to be leaning toward simply purchasing the property.

"I'm interested because where it is, not what it is," Connelly said, referring to the bar's location next to his family business.

Efforts to contact Minnick by cell phone Tuesday were not successful. His wife, Barbara Jean Minnick, listed as co-owner of the bar along with Daniel Minnick, the delegate's brother, declined to comment when asked, by phone, if the bar was up for sale.

Efforts to reach the bar by phone Tuesday were not successful and the bar was closed Tuesday afternoon when a Patch reporter stopped by.

Minnick's previously stopped offering lunch and dinner. In July, the bar was raided by Baltimore County police after allegedly operating illegal slot machines.

The state delegate was not charged as part of the raid. Daniel Minnick, whose name is listed on the permit application for a "coin operated amusement device license application," was one of the four , according to Baltimore County police.
