Title Changes But the Desk Doesn't for Chamber's Cristy

Longtime Dundalk Chamber of Commerce office manager Dotty Cristy has been named the group's executive director.

Dotty Cristy, a well-known woman-about-town in Dundalk, has been named the executive director of the Dundalk Chamber of Commerce.

Cristy has served as the organization's officer manager since 2006, according to the most recent issue of Chamber Notes, the group's newsletter.

With the new title, Cristy will take on additional duties and responsibilities.

"It is quite an honor to be named executive director," Cristy wrote in an email to Dundalk Patch. "I've been office manager so long, I find myself correcting myself when people ask what I do."

The Dundalk woman also works as a Realtor and is known for always having her camera handy at events around town.

The accomplished amateur photographer has won many contests, and has a growing collection of ribbons won at the Maryland State Fair. She won 20 awards at this year's fair for photography, flower arranging, handmade crafts and candy and homegrown tomatoes, according to the newsletter.

The Chamber's business is keeping Cristy busy. She's planning a breakfast meeting in October to discuss new health care issues coming next year and another (with topic and plans still incomplete) for November.

The high price of crabs put the organization's annual crab feat on hold, and Cristy said she still hopes to reschedule that event later this month or next month if the prices come down.

She continues to juggle her Chamber duties with her real estate career, which has been busy lately, Cristy said, admitting that the juggling act can be challenging at times.

"Real estate is so unpredictable it may not be the same next year," she said in the email. "So, I just take what I get as it comes along."
