A Costly Coal Crackdown

New government regulations on coal industry could cost families big bucks in higher energy costs

This is an instance where “truth” is scarier than “reality.” And by that, I mean reality television.

I will admit to watching the Animal Channel’s Finding Big Foot program. But, after about two minutes of listening to the incessant comments (“Did you see that?” “Did you hear that??” NO.), I quickly became aware that the show was nothing but a big hoax that became laughable.

Of course, I knew that would happen, but it was still somewhat dizzying to witness.

However, today we are faced with a future “truth” that is more suspenseful and much scarier than the search for a mythical large creature in the woods. And this truth features a much bigger and much scarier creature—BIG GOVERNMENT—that is threatening to overtake the middle class yet again, this time in the form of new energy regulations.

The sad part is that all of this will take place in 2015, well after the upcoming elections, so we are powerless to persuade lawmakers to vote against it.

But let me paint the picture for you first…

You see, the Democratic Party is reeling from the implementation (or lack thereof) of a health care program that, by design, was meant to gut the middle class to pay for the poor. Because, of course, that burden should be on us.

(Blogger’s note: I’m going to go on a little diatribe here.)

Now, I want to state for the record that I have no problem with helping the truly needy. But, I don’t understand why the middle class should have to subsidize those who are, as the saying goes, “living off the government dole.” I see it every day, and I’m sure many of you who read this blog also see it. Just go to the local grocery store and stand in line a few moments. You’ll see someone who eventually pulls out an Independence card while gabbing on a smartphone before heading out to a nice car for the ride to the subsidized home containing Internet and cable TV.

Recently, I actually witnessed a lady become highly upset when her Independence card would not allow for the purchase of some mints (the only item she was purchasing, by the way), prompting her to storm out of the store. The clerk said she does it all the time.

Imagine that!

I have observed many similar sightings where those using the card actually will argue over what they did not get and demanding to speak with a supervisor. Generally this holds up the whole line.

(OK, my diatribe is over now.)

Time to get to the meat of this blog. Despite all of the costly failures of the President’s green energy programs, another disaster is headed our way that threatens to wipe out many families already struggling to keep their heads above that thin line of falling into poverty.

The story came out that the EPA, under the President’s green energy initiative, wants to shut down all US coal plants because they put carbon in the atmosphere. This is going to put a tremendous strain on the power grid, cause people’s energy bills to skyrocket, and cost a lot of jobs.

Folks, we are witnessing a man bent on an agenda that is unprecedented in modern times, and his political cronies are helping him lead the charge. What ever happened to, “of the people, by the people, and for the people?”

Some quotes from this article should concern you (for those that are even aware to be concerned) of Obama’s pending vision of an energy system run on windmills.

“It’s the result of an unprecedented regulatory assault on coal that will leave us all much poorer.”

That is truth. The federal government thinks it knows best, yet those in power continue to fail at every attempt at ruling our destiny. The polls clearly reflect that. Now, if the previous quote doesn’t scare you, maybe this one will cause some concern:

“The PJM auction forecasts a dim future where Americans will be paying more to keep the lights on. We are seeing more and more coal plants fall victim to EPA’s destructive regulatory agenda, and as a result, we are seeing more job losses and higher electricity prices.”

And, of course, the remedy seems to be a public outcry about the government sticking its hand into our already empty pockets:

“The only thing that can stop this massive price hike now is an all-out effort to end Obama’s War on Coal and repeal this destructive regulatory agenda.”

Folks, imagine the shock of your energy bills increasing by 80%. If you tell me that doesn’t concern you, then I don’t know what will.

I hope that this information wakes up some of the less informed Americans … and the recent polling shows most Americans don’t have a clue.

It's truly amazing how people react when you put your hands into their pockets.

Quite frankly, this president has spent more while in office than any other commander in chief in our nation’s history. And let us not forget that he stands behind what could be the greatest political blunder in our nation’s history: Obama Care!

We need to speak up and speak out loud enough to be heard. Sadly, though, it may be too late.
