Throw the Book(keeping)

And the rabbit hole goes deeper…

I had planned to release the letter from the ethics commission, minus the names, because I’m not out to harm people who are vulnerable to retaliation from the administration; however, I have obtained a piece of video regarding some comments made by the county executive regarding this matter.

Over the weekend, a situation came to my attention involving the recruit who was allowed to graduate despite being involved in money going missing from the academy’s class account. When confronted with the incident, the recruit denied any involvement or knowledge of the incident.

So, in this type of situation, you bring in the “A team”—or CID (Criminal Investigation Division)—to get to the bottom of the matter.  Baltimore County’s CID is top-notch—one of the nation’s best.

The CID team questioned the recruit, who finally admitted that a mistake was made and the money put into a personal bank account.  As with any case of this type, the Chief has the final say in the subsequent adjudication. Chief Johnson classified it as a “bookkeeping error,” which was enough to allow the recruit to graduate and become a sworn officer without any investigation.

In my opinion (and it is my blog), at the very least this case should have been sent to the State’s Attorney for review.  Would you want an officer involved in something potentially dishonest handling a situation that could impact your life or those of your family?

You may also remember the other recruit that I wrote about over the weekend—the one who was removed. Of course, this was after several instances of “work with him.” I guess the turning point is when you threaten a teacher.

Because, of course, you can’t explain threatening behavior by calling it a “bookkeeping error.”

What this boils down to, in my humble opinion, is an ethnicity issue—the left turns every such situation into a racial attack on the department.

Instead of telling the Obama administration to not let the door hit the officials in their respective posteriors, the Department bows to the pressure because it involves—what else—votes!

Instead of saying, “We want the best of the best,” it instead becomes a numbers game.  You can’t win elections without votes, and you get votes by pandering to the masses.

Let me explain.  Imagine the NBA only takes one group of players, such as “whites only.”  There would be no Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, or LeBron James in the record books. In the NBA, 76% of the players are black.  But that doesn’t have to do with any type of discrimination—it is just the fact that those players are the best of the best.

What would happen to any professional sport if choices of players were made solely on race?  I don’t think I have to tell you.

In my opinion, what the Chief should have done is let the law follow its course.
