Future of North Point site.

There has been a great deal of debate regarding the changes at the North Point government center. Many opinions, emotions, visions, and hopes for the changes planned for the location. Recently the vote was made and the deal struck.  Now it is in the hands of us all to come together and assist in the plan for what is to come.

Some of the more vocal individuals with concerns for this location, me included, have spoken with Vanguard, reps from the county, as well as local organizations for their input.  Through these conversations I have heard that the Dundalk/Eastpoint Rec. Council is putting forth a recommendation to eliminate the Amphitheater from the plan. If this is the case, I would like to point out the tragic mistake that it would be to allow this.

The amenities of the green space such as the playground, the amphitheater, ball fields, and the recreation center is necessary to support the shops, and vise versa.  The two environments create a synergy that promotes success for the area as a whole.

Regardless of your position for or against the build, that choice has been made. We now need to come together to make sure what is built is the finest design for the most varied use. This versatility is what makes the site unique and will lead to Dundalk becoming a force to be envied.

Tomorrow is the Dundalk/Eastfield Rec meeting at 8pm at the Logan Elementary School Recreation Center.  We need to be there to be just as vocal about making sure that what is built is the best for a long term use of the community as we were about the debate of the change in the first place.
