As of August 5, 2012, the decorative fountain in front of the Dundalk Post Office is in dire need of a complete cleaning. That fountain is Baltimore County Property, and I have seen Balto. Co. workers cleaning the fountain - during previous summers. I have never witnessed that fountain looking as nasty as it does now. I know it has been that way for several weeks. But I don't really want to know if it was so repulsive looking as far back as on the 4th of July, when the Independence Day Parade went right by that spot and plenty of people watched the parade from near the fountain. The terrible condition of the water in the fountain is an insult and a health hazard to anyone who goes near it.
The right course of action for Baltimore County to take, on their ill-maintained property, is to clean the fountain and leave it running for a couple of more months. They shut it down and close it up before every winter sets in, so the water doesn't freeze and damage the water pumping system.
