Many Email Accounts Hacked

Many email accounts are being hacked into right now, and malicious links are being emailed out.

We are under attack! Many email accounts are being hacked into right now, and malicious links are being emailed out. I have received 7 or 8 of them this week, and they come from email accounts of a wide variety of people I know. I easily recognize such fake emails, because most people I know don't write to me using the wording used in the malicious email titles and bodies. Also, the links in the email bodies are oddly written. Two recent emails say, "Interesting Article," another just says, "From David Crews", and others had, "FWD. FWD.", as if it was a great email forwarded to me by its previous recipient. I wasn't overly concerned by the first one or two - one came from Maine and one from Maryland - but all week more have come, and it's clearly now a wide spread, serious problem.

It is a serious problem because the links in these emails lead to a malicious web page. I am good at keeping solid Internet security on my computer and being so well protected I took a a chance and did test one email's link. I wanted to determine if it was a sneaky advertisement or a malicious attack attempt. My anti-virus security software blocked that page and warned me about it. There is some kind of attacking virus, worm, trojan, spyware or whatever in these emails. We are under attack!

This appears to be a good time for us to change the passwords to our email accounts. That is what security techs usually advise when this type of situation arises. And now I have to contact the people who's emails were used by the hackers to tell my hacked contacts they've been hacked.

PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO ANY EMAILS YOU OPEN. DO NOT OPEN ANY ODDLY WORDED EMAILS. IF YOU FEEL IT MAY BE A LEGIT EMAIL, but oddly worded, SEND AN EMAIL TO THE PERSON WHO THE EMAIL IS SAID TO BE FROM, ASK THEM IF THEY SENT IT. NEVER HIT REPLY OR FORWARD ON A SUSPECT EMAIL.

Fifteen years ago I would not go near a computer and did not want to even know what these emails people were talking about are or how they are made. Then I began using computers, the Internet and emails. This has allowed me to do and publish a lot of work I love and need to create and to communicated with tens of thousands of people world wide.

But we have to take the great benefits along with the lousy aspects of the Internet, and stay one step ahead of twisted people who are dedicated to sending us malicious files in emails. They should be arrested.
