Better Backyards Workshop

Designing 'Better Backyards' to improve water quality draining to the Chesapeake Bay.

This Friday, April 19th from 3pm-7pm, the DRC is hosting a 'Better Backyards Workshop' to demonstrate how to use rain barrels and native plants to reduce nutirent loads and runoff to the Chesapeake Bay.  Come learn hands-on as we plant a rain garden, instal a rain barrel, and talk about the benefits of bayscaping as we eat BBQ at the day's end.

Designing better backyards will help to improve water quality draining from our town and emptying into the Bay.  To improve water quality will support recovery of local fisheries.  When it rains, storm water brings a lot of pollutants and excess nutirents to the Bay.  Rain barrels and rain gardens help to interupt this flow of water by designing for rooftop runoff to soak inito the ground instead of running into the street and down the drian.

We welcome your participation, interest, and questions for this educational outdoor event.  For more information call Phillip (410)282-0261 or email Phillip@DundalkUSA.org to RSVP.  The workshop will be held at Dave Janeseski's at 112 Kinship Rd (21222).  We hope to see you there!
