Man Charged in Destruction of Sparrows Point Speed Camera

A Sparrows Point man is the to be charged in the destruction of a speed camera earlier this month at Sparrows Point High School.
The camera, deactivated at the time, was knocked over and dragged through a field by a pick-up truck. The incident was caught on school surveillance cameras, according to Baltimore County police spokeswoman Det. Cathy Batton.
Brian Lee Roff, 18, of the 8100 block of Dogwood Road, Sparrows Point, was charged with malicious destruction of property valued at more than $500 and trespassing on school grounds. A trial date has been set for Jan. 12.

Two 17-year-olds, who are students at , previously had been arrested in the case and were charged with theft and destruction of property, Batton said.
The camera and pole at Sparrows Point High School was pulled from the ground by a chain or rope tied to a pick-up truck. The camera had been scheduled for removal by Baltimore County. The new speed cameras are portable models, Batton said.
