Dundalk's Kevin Clash On Leave As Voice of Elmo

The Dundalk High School graduate stands accused of sexual impropriety.

Turner Station native Kevin Clash, the puppeteer who has endeared himself to countless children as the voice of Sesame Street muppet Elmo, has taken a leave of absence from his job amid allegations of sexual impropriety.

The Dundalk High School graduate, long a supporter of philanthropic efforts in his hometown, stands accused of having sex with a then-16-year-old boy, according to TMZ.

The reports says the unidentified accuser, now 23, claims that he and Clash had a sexual relationship when he was 16 and Clash was 45.

Clash reportedly admitted to TMZ that he did have a sexual relationship with his accuser, but only after the man turned 18.

Sesame Workshop, which produces Sesame Street, issued the following statement:

"We took the allegation very seriously and took immediate action. We met with the accuser twice and had repeated communications with him. We met with Kevin, who denied the accusation. We also conducted a thorough investigation and found the allegation of underage conduct to be unsubstantiated. Although this was a personal relationship unrelated to the workplace, our investigation did reveal that Kevin exercised poor judgment and violated company policy regarding internet usage and he was disciplined."

According to TMZ, Sesame Street officials said that Clash adamantly denies the allegations of under-age sexual abuse and has been given a leave of absence so the puppeteer can work to clear his name and reputation.

A little OT Just something that popped through my head. Does the Same Sex Marriage law also provide Marital protection?
Steven Pope November 12, 2012 at 09:43 PM
this is gross, and wrong

Remember, an accused is only accused; we are innocent until proven guilty.
Evets November 12, 2012 at 11:19 PM
Only in a court of law. Citizens are free to render an opinion or a comment regarding an accusation...
FIFA November 12, 2012 at 11:30 PM
Sorry Evets, just like the bus, the Citizens are very often wrong. Or are willing to give up rights that protect us all. Long live the Bus!

Wait for all the FACTS to be released and Kevin will clear his name,
HDGresident November 13, 2012 at 02:19 AM
Even if the accuser was 18, Clash was 45! Although technically legal, it just doesn't seem right! Especially for someone who's in the Entertainment industry (and children) -- poor judgment.

legal, but creepy.

Kevin Clash is an amazing, talented man. The man I know would NEVER have done this. I have had the pleasure of meeting him on multiple occasions and the Mr. Clash I met loves what he does. And loves children, not in a sexual way. This guy is out for money and nothing else. This breaks my heart.

I agree with HDGresident, even if he did wait till the kid was 18 he is still a perverted pedophile & has no business working with children. & Sesame Street is just his way of getting close to them. I have never liked that show or let my children watch it anyway because of the way they are. life is no fairy tale, why sugar coat it for the kid's.

How can he be "Dundalk's" if he lives in Catonsville?

Sort of Sandusky-like. Take on one who is less able to defend. Abuse relationships. Not saying it's so, Just sayin'...

Chuck, I read a book on this very subject years ago. It was called, "FOR YOUR OWN GOOD". It dealt with how the logic you supposed came into being and how it affected at least 3 notable examples of people all know of. Teach your children in advance that the world is bad so they can be prepared. Among the notables was Adolf Hitler. I think we need to protect our children from wrong and wrongdoing until their little brains are wired properly. To children life should be a fairy-tale. Let them have good to use to mature. I believe the author of the book I mentioned is Alice Miller. Anyhow it was a good read and discusses your theory and how it came into being back in the 1800s. And how wrong it is.

No, Steve. That's the man - boy - love law that comes next on the agenda for those who wish to destroy our society. The slippery-slope we're on will produce demands for passage of this new assault on our values soon. Basically it says that since some believe that some men desire boys for love that it should become legal to do so. Now that gay marriage is cool you can expect the next assult to begin soon.
Al Day November 13, 2012 at 05:52 PM
Kiley they said the same thing about Pee-Wee Herman. Those that knew him said he could never have done his deed back then. But he did and those that 'knew' him were shocked. And unless you were with him in those intimate moments you can't really say what he would do in 'private'.

Kevin was a native of Turner Station in Dundalk. He is often referred to as being from there. This Wiki article mentions it, amongst others from that particular neighborhood. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dundalk,_Maryland

Christmas 2012 new hot toy! Molest me Elmo!
chuck November 13, 2012 at 08:38 PM
so AL you should shelter your kids so that when there inquiring minds are made aware of drugs or wrong doings that sound fun, they partake & start down the wrong path? or maybe when some perv. cons them in to stuff they no nothing about because of the sheltering. yeah That sounds like a real good idea, I assume I should shelter them from my guns also & not make them aware of the dangers so when they happen across it they just assume it's a toy and accidently kill someone.
Joe November 13, 2012 at 09:26 PM
Whats the big deal anyway? Homosexuals can marry so man boy love is eight around the corner. Soon men who love boys will be saying, "years ago you dinosaurs were against gay marriage and now your bigots and homophobes against men in love with boys." the slope has begun.
Bill Howard November 14, 2012 at 01:25 AM
@Joe Actually they are already trying to do that. Additionally, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Baider Ginsberg while working for the ACLU advocated nationally putting the age of consent down to 12. They left will always go for pushing the sexual boundaries as close to Sodom and Gohmora as they can.
Tim November 14, 2012 at 03:08 AM
How is this different from guys marrying women 20 years younger then them, exactly? That 50 year old dude that married Courtney Stodden (17) for example. In other news, the accuser has recanted his statements, and said it was completely 'legal' and 'consensual' http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/elmo_voice_sorry_for_sex_talk_report_KKzUUtI0gpWh5dRfX2NmlK still creepy, sure....but legal
Needaname November 14, 2012 at 10:12 AM
Tim - now that you mentioned Courtney and Doug - as Billy Bush told Doug on air - '...you know you have ruined your career....'. I cannot imagine the strain that 'relationship' has endured.
