Photo of the Day: An August Blue Moon

Remember hearing the phrase, "Once in a Blue Moon?"

Well, that implies that something doesn't happen very often at all.

Friday night's full moon was the second full moon this month, which earned it the designation of a Blue Moon.

I shot this picture of the moon as it rose over Miller's Island. When I captured the  blue moon, it looked more pink than blue (though it was tough to capture that in the image).

According to astronomy experts, this is the last Blue Moon until 2015.
