Puppeteer Kevin Clash Sued by Third Accuser

A third man has accused the Turner Station native of engaging in underage sex with him.

A third man has stepped forward to accuse puppeteer Kevin Clash of engaging in a sexual relationship with him while he was underage.

Clash, a Dundalk native, is accused of using alcohol to "groom" the then-16-year-old boy into sexual activity, the New York Daily News reported today.

The paper cited a lawsuit filed by the accuser using the name "John Doe" in Manhattan Federal Court on Tuesday.

The accuser, now 29, claims to have met Clash in 2000 on a gay phone chat line when he was a 16-year-old aspiring model from New Jersey.

Clash resigned from his job as the voice of Elmo last week after a $5 million lawsuit was filed by Cecil Singleton, 24, who claims that Clash had sex with him when he was 15.

The Singleton lawsuit was filed shortly after a , recanted his allegations after originally stating that he had underage sex with Clash.

Media outlets report that he received a settlement of $125,000.

A spokesman for Clash, 52, told the New York Daily News that the most recent lawsuit "has no merit."

Clash grew up in Turner Station and is a 1979 graduate of Dundalk High School.

He had worked for Sesame Workshop, the producer of Sesame Street, for 28 years and was credited with creating the current personality of Elmo that is known to millions of fans.

He originally took a leave of absence from his job to work on clearing his name after the first accuser came forward.

Citing his desire to not see problems in his personal life become distractions for the company, he resigned last week.
