Set Your Clocks Back Tonight; Daylight Saving Time Ends

While setting clocks back, check the batteries in all smoke detectors.

If you thought it was getting dark early, just wait until Sunday night.

Daylight Saving Time ends officially at 2 a.m. Sunday, when we all set our clocks back an hour. We get the gift of an extra hour of sleep, and we'll have an earlier sunrise (6:38 a.m., as opposed to 7:37 a.m on Saturday), but sunset will occur at 5:01 p.m.

The days will continue to get shorter until the Winter Solstice on Dec. 21.

Local firefighters remind you to change the batteries in your smoke detectors. It is suggested that the batteries be changed twice a year, and to make it easier to remember to do so, firefighters suggest changing them when clocks are set forward in the spring and back in the fall.

So get a good night's sleep tonight, and wake up rested and ready to do something special with your extra hour of weekend!
