Squire’s Italian Restaurant

Overview: Squire’s is known for serving the best pizza – eaten in or for delivery – in Dundalk. Family-owned for 50 years, the restaurant is run by Bob and Lorenzo Romiti. Service is friendly and warm, and the front-room bar, separated from the main dining area, remains a popular local watering hole.

Décor: Warm and inviting, well-lit and open, with a mix of tables and booths.

The Drinks: Beer, wine menu, and liquor. Soft drinks and Italian sparking water.

Appetizers: Italian starters include garlic bread (whole order: $4), mozzarella sticks (6 sticks: $5.50), fresh mozzarella with tomato and basil ($5.95), eggplant parmigiana ($5.95), homemade tomato bruschetta ($6) and steamed mussels in white wine and garlic sauce ($7.95). Other appetizers include crab dip ($9.25) and jalapeno poppers ($6).

Pizza: Can’t say enough about the pizza. Great crust, with just the right amount of crunch, and always a very generous helping of fresh, tasty toppings. For delivery, we’re told by local experts that you can always count on a good pie that never sticks to underside of the lid. Cheese and tomato (9-inch: $6.25, 12-inch $7.25, 16-inch: $10.95), Vegetarian (12-inch: $11.75), Squire’s Sampler (six toppings, 12-inch: $12.75). Sicilian (12-inch: $8.20).

Dinner entrees: Homemade lasagna (meat or vegetarian: $9.95) is a signature dish. Other homemade pastas include ravioli (cheese only: $8.95), manicotti (meat, cheese or one each: $8.95), spinach fettuccini ($8.95), thin macaroni ($8.95), and a true Roman favorite, gnocchi ($8.95).

Imported Pastas: Spaghetti ($7.50), penne ($7.50), stuffed shells ($8.50), tortellini (with meat: $8.50), and angel hair ($7.50).

Extras with Pasta: Chicken parmigiana ($5.25), eggplant parmigiana ($5.75), veal parmigiana ($5.25), homemade Italian sausage (two: $4), meatballs (two: $3.95).

Dinner Platters: Fried seafood platter ($21.50), crab cake platter ($21.95), chicken cacciatore ($11.95).

Steak & Chops: Flat iron steak (14 ounce: $18), grilled pork shops ($11.75), New York-cut sirloin (6 ounce: $12.50)

Dessert: Homemade cannoli (mini: $2.50), Friazo’s peanut butter panic ($4.75), Friazo’s spumoni amore ($4.75), cheese cake ($3.75), German chocolate cake ($3.25).
