Squire's Makes Best Pizza List

In October's issue, Baltimore magazine names the top destinations for the "ultimate comfort food."

Despite being home to its own Little Italy, Baltimore isn't known for pizza in the way, say, New York or Chicago is famous for pizza.

But as Baltimore magazine notes this month, Charm City sure is full of pizzerias – and some pretty great ones at that. Among the 34 pizzerias in the metro area selected for special recognition, Dundalk's renown Squire's, founded more than 50 years ago on Holabird Avenue, gets props.

Baltimore magazine plugs "heaping platters of spaghetti and meatballs, eggplant parmigiana and Caesar salads," and of course, the Squire's Special, a pie loaded with pepperoni, meat sauce, sausage, mushrooms and peppers-plus capicola ham. Squire's Hawaiian pizza also earns a nod.

Other nearby pizza shops selected for mini-profiles from Baltimore magazine include on Back River Road in Essex, DiPasquale's on Gough Street in Highlandtown, Giovanni's Tutti Gusti on Fait Avenue in Canton and Matthew's Pizza on Eastern Avenue at Patterson Park.
