Invitation to Dundalk Candidates: Use Patch to Reach Out to Potential Voters

If you're running for office or already hold an elected position, make Dundalk Patch part of your communications arsenal.

With the imminent retirement of several long-time Dundalk elected leaders, the face of Dundalk's political landscape will change significantly after the 2014 elections.

And Dundalk Patch hopes to play a role in helping candidates communicate with the community and spread the message of their campaigns.

At the state level, the Sixth Legislative District will see names change in at least three places. State Senator Norman Stone, a Democrat, has announced his plans to retire at the end of his term, bringing to an end a public service career of more than 50 years.

Sixth District Del. John Olzsewski, Jr., a Democrat, has announced his intentions to pursue that seat.

That opens up a seat in the House of Delegates, as does the announced retirement of Joseph "Sonny" Minnick, also a Democrat.

Del. Mike Weir Jr.(D) is the only incumbent at the state level seeking to retain his seat in the 6th District.

On Nov. 2, Seventh District Baltimore County Councilman John Olszewski Sr. (D) announced he will not pursue a fifth term in that office, and will instead work on the gubernatorial campaign of Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown and his son's state senatorial campaign.

Many candidates, particularly from the Republican Party, have announced their intentions to run, and Patch is here for all candidates to use to get their messages, platform stances, opinions and news to voters.

All local candidates are welcome to start a blog on Dundalk Patch. On that platform, candidates can post photos, news of events, position papers and any other information that will help voters make the most informed decisions possible regarding their voting choices.

The posts will also allow candidates to engage in conversations with voters via their blog's comments section.

Candidates are encouraged to visit Dundalk Patch to learn how to create a blog and start spreading your message.

It's easy to start a blog and even easier to publish. You write your message, add photos if wanted and press the post now button. You're done.

You publish the piece yourself, without waiting for someone else to approve it.
