The Community College of Baltimore County Dental Hygiene Clinic is again holding special clinics specifically for pregnant women and infants on Oct. 17, Nov. 14 and Dec. 5, 2012 in the Dental Arts Bldg. at CCBC Dundalk, 7200 Sollers Point Road.  These free and complete preventive dental services clinics will be held during morning (8 – 11:30 a.m.) or afternoon (1-4:30 p.m.) hours by appointment only.  Call Patrice Gernhardt at 443-840-3495 to schedule an appointment.   Funded through a grant from CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, these dental hygiene services are available for pregnant and post-partum women (up to two years) and infants throughout Maryland.  Under the supervision of a registered dental hygienist, the dental Hygiene students are able to gain real life experience while helping pregnant women and their infants.

“There is a major link between the pregnant mother’s oral care and their unborn child. Poor oral care while pregnant can cause miscarriages or an early birth,” notes Kathleen D’Ambrisi, program director for CCBC’s dental hygiene program.
