Edgemere Horseshoes Tourney To Benefit Burnham/Nicklas Families

The Burnham and Nicklas families are struggling to recover from a family tragedy that occurred in August.

Horseshoe fans are invited to shoot in a fall tournament and help out two Dundalk families at the same time.

A horseshoes tourney will be held beginning at noon Saturday at the Radecke Club, 7411 Betz Ave. in Edgemere. All proceeds from the day will benefit the Burnham and Nicklas families, the members of which are struggling to recover from a family tragedy that occurred Aug. 24.

James "Reds" Burnham shot and injured his 25-year-old daughter, Shannon Nicklas, before shooting and killing his wife, Terri Burnham and then himself.

Family friends are organizing the event which will also include a cornhole tournament, raffles and food for sale.

Hot bogs and hamburgers will be sold, and competitors and spectators are asked to bring a covered dish.

The entry fee is $20 per person. Registration will be held from 11 a.m. to noon, when the horseshoes competition will begin.
