Holiday Plates Will Be Full Thanks to Dundalk Chamber Food Drive

The proceeds of the annual food drive will be donated to the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center's emergency food closet.

The Dundalk Chamber of Commerce asked and its members and community residents responded with gusto.

The business organization's annual "Thanks-for-Giving" food drive ended Monday and was a resounding success, according to Chamber Executive Director Dotty Cristy.

"It didn't matter if you gave a little or a lot, when you get it all together at the end, that's what counts," Cristy wrote in an email message to members Monday afternoon. "I'm sure the Johns Hopkins [Bayview Medical Center] Emergency Food Closet will provide many needy families with a great meal for the upcoming holiday."

Food was dropped off at several area offices and businesses that offered to be drop-off spots for the effort. With donations still needing to be collected from one site, more than 340 nonperishable food items were donated during the drive, according to Cristy.

"It's a labor of love, but the Chamber could not do it without our wonderful members and friends," she said in an email to Dundalk Patch. "Dundalk gives when we ask, they are great!"

The Chamber will kick off its December "Holidays Are For Giving" food drive the day after Thanksgiving. All donations will again benefit the JHBMC food bank.
