In history discussions, the Battle of North Point often takes a back seat to the Battle of Baltimore.

With the kickoff of Star-Spangled Sailabration, the commemoration of the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 is officially under way.

While Greater Dundalkians are well aware of the significance of the Battle of North Point—during which British Major General Robert Ross was killed— the local battle tends to take a back seat in discussions by historians, who concentrate more on the Battle of Baltimore and the defense of Patterson Park and Fort McHenry.
