A 16-year-old girl was taken to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with potentially life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car Friday in Edgemere, a Baltimore County police spokeswoman said.
The girl was riding her bike on North Point Road near Lodge Forest Road at about 8:24 p.m. when the accident occurred, Detective Cathy Batton said.
A Nissan Altima traveling in the same direction as the bicyclist on North Point Road moved to the left to give the bicyclist the required amount of room when the teenager, for unknown reasons, turned her bike into the side of the car, Batton said on Monday.
The driver of the Nissan remained on the scene and no charges are pending, Batton said.
No additional information about the girl's name or condition was available Monday.
