Cornwall Road Fire Under Investigation

Crews extinguished a fire Monday afternoon in Dundalk. No injuries were reported.

Officials are investigating the cause of a fire Monday afternoon in the 2900 block of Cornwall Road in Dundalk.

At 12:43 p.m. Monday, a passer-by called 911 after noticing heavy, black smoke coming from a home's front door, fire department spokeswoman Louise Rogers-Feher said.

Fire crews saw the smoke, and found a heavy fire on the second floor of the home. Fourteen vehicles and 40 fire personnel were called to the scene, Rogers-Feher said. The fire was declared knocked down at 12:55 p.m., she said.

The residents were not home at the time and no injuries were reported, but animal control officers were called to the scene for two cats who were in the home. Rogers-Feher said she had no information on the condition of the cats.
