Couple Charged in Logan Village Stabbing

Baltimore County police have charged a man and woman for their alleged involvement in a stabbing Sunday night near the Logan Village Shopping Center.

At approximately 10 p.m. July 3, officers responded to the 6800 block of Broening Road following a report of an assault. A 32-year-old male was found with cuts to his upper body. He was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.  

Baltimore County police have charged Shawn Allen Novak, 28, of the 600 block of Arsan Avenue in Brooklyn and Ann Marie Preston, 27, of the 4100 block of North Point Road in Dundalk, with first- and second-degree assault.

The incident was originally reported as an attempted robbery.  

Precinct 12 police officers said the victim knew both suspects and agreed to meet with them to talk. According to police, the victim reported that Novak stabbed him during an argument about a drug deal between the victim and Novak’s girlfriend, Preston.

After the alleged attack, the victim ran to the store to call for help. He reported that the suspects both left in a vehicle driven by Preston, police said.  

Warrants were obtained for Novak and Preston and they were arrested July 4. Novak is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center. Preston has been released on $50,000 bail, according to police.
